Can i run GW2
ok so lately i have really getting pumped about guild wars 2, and so of course i looked down at my computer and was wondering your guys opinion if i could run it [If i had to i would run it on low garaphics mode]. Ok my videocard is a nvidia not so great but above average PCI card. after that i have a high end sound card, and 3 gigs of ram. If i cant run it i guess i will have to upgrade, but crossing my fingers

GW2 hasn't been released yet so we don't know what minimum requirements it will have.
Mind you, if you're running a PCI graphics card, it doesn't look promising...

your description is extremely vague. we'll need more detailed specs before we can really say much.

Yeah, the three gigs points to it being fairly recent. Who's going to be the first to point out the irrelevancy of a high-end soundcard?
(Just kidding, OP!)

Good chance they will release the min system requirements for it before they game is about to be released. Ya I don't think my Emachine bought at Wal-Mart 2 years ago is going to cut it.

If I can find the paragraph that had it I will post the link but I believe somewhere in a press confrence when they were discussing gw2 they said that if your computer can run guildwars it will be able to run guildwars 2 at least on the lowest settings. I will look around for that video.

it will require at least a dual core processor
i doubt developers over at anet (or where ever) use outdated single core processors to create a much anticipated gw2
-.-

I think if you can run Aion. Chances are you will be able to run GW2. MMO games dont really need that much to play and specs for mmo's dont go up too quick.

They develop their games using laptops so they can stress test their developments with low-end specifications.
There was also a press release some time ago with them promising that anyone who was able to play GW1 properly, will have a rig capable for GW2. But i'm starting to completely throw that out of the window simply because GW2 will not be completely instanced.
You will need moar processing.

^^ Lets just hope they are stress testing it on a high end alienware =)
If you go to System Requirements Lab, you can test your machine vs games to see if you can run it,
I cant see GW2 being more hungry than some of the newest games, if you can run them you can run GW2

I bought a Core i7 860 (4 core/8 thread) with HD5770 purely because I thought that's the minimum I'd need for GW2!
Actually I didn't - I bought it for other reasons. However, as a happy side benefit, I expect it will play GW2 really really well.
Seriously, if you can play GW now at a solid 60FPS or better at your current resolution, I expect (just a guess) that GW2 will be playable at the same resolution (but maybe dropping to the 30FPS mark). GW becomes CPU-bound in areas with large numbers of people, so the increased number of non-instanced areas are likely to the killer here. Your best test is in a full district of a town with most people in the one place, Ctrl+Alt held down, and fireworks going off - something like Halloween or Shing Jea boardwalk.

The on-board video card is a Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nFORCE 430, AMD athlon II X2 235e processer [2 cpu's], 6144MB RAM, and DirectX 11. I know its a Emachine so don't make fun of me :]

your integrated graphics will have a hard time with GW2, and may not even be playable. I'd suggest investing in a modest priced dedicated video card, which will greatly improve your GW1 experience and allow you to play GW2 as well when it is out.
*you will also need to check on your power supply, since it'
s likely not up to a very high powered video card... might need to change that too.

Where do you hear this dual core info or are you just guessing?
I doubt it would be advantageous to use multiple cores - wouldnt one fast core be better?

GW2 will use havok physics. that by itself will greatly benefit from having an extra core... or two... or five.
of course, GW2 has a good chance of utilizing GPU accelerated Havok, but the kind of computers that has a graphic card capable of that will likely have at least a dual core anyway.
